A committed group of local Chester residents have been steadily raising funds for the replacement of the current playground at the local elementary school. To date, $17,000 has been raised for the endeavor.
The Chester Telegraph reported that the Chester Rotary donated $1,000. Combined with another recent donation of $2,000 from Jiffy Mart and other community initiatives the playground's fundraising has momentum going into the summer.
The committee has their sights set on a grant funded by the VT Department of Children and Families to move them further to their goal of $150,000.
